Good Video. I like the fact that you put the documentation of your handloads in the video as well. It's a simple thing, but easily overlooked. Over the course of time, that book will become a valuable resource for remembering the recipes that work best for you.

Just ran across this video on the .44 Special of yours today. Good basic information. The .44 Special is probably my favorite center fire hand gun round. It was found to be an inherently accurate round and quickly adopted as a formal target round shortly after its introduction. It then proved to be a very versatile cartridge, especially after noted "Pistolero" and author, Elmer Keith started experimenting with it. He developed a lead 240 grain, truncated cone w/a flat point, style of bullet known by his last name. (They're also made in .38 Special and weigh 158 grains.) Keith is credited with co-developing the .44 Magnum along with Smith and Wesson by using their 1950 Target Revolver in .44 Special, 6 1/2" barrel, N-Frame and 18 grains of Hercules 2400 powder. Shortly after they came out I was able to acquire a Smith & Wesson Model 24 (one of 3,000) reissue of their 1950 Target and I love it. Glass smooth trigger that "breaks like glass" with no over travel, deep blue finish, & etc. When I hand load for it, I load three different types of loads; plinking/target loads with lead 240 grain Keith bullets over x grains of Unique for range and casual target shooting, or, when I go deer hunting, I load 240 grain semi-jacketed hollow points, or 240 grain jacketed, Keith style flat points over near Keith territory charges of Hercules 2400 as emergency "Bear Stoppers" for any overly aggressive black bears or idiot "Urban Agronomist's" tending their crops here in Calipornia who mistake me for a competitor. I will also use the target loads for my 2 /1/2" barreled Charter Arms Bulldog Pug in .44 Special and my 3" barreled Taurus Model 441-s [same size as a K-Frame Smith] in stainless steel. I do not use the "Hot" loads in them and for urban home defense I only use factory loaded Winchester Western 200 grain hollow points which have sufficient stopping power but are much less likely to penetrate either an aggressor, or any drywall wall should you miss, and unintentionally strike an innocent bystander., as, in this state, you're less likely to be labeled a "Homicidal Maniac just looking for a 'victim'"" if you do have to defend your life and use "Scary Looking" and/or it has a "Scary Sounding Name" ammunition. No matter if its hand or factory loaded.

I never trust anyone that wears sunglasses while they’re talking to me, much less anyone that wears sunglasses on a cloudy day, much less anyone that does a video on a cloudy day in the sun. And does not have any idea what the fuck they’re talking about. Sorry, I’m an old guy and sick of watching kids, hiding their faces while trying to act like they know something that the rest of us has known for half a century.

I still have my Smith & Wesson Classic DX 629-3 44mag. that I bought brand new as a special order from my local dealer back in 1991 !! It has the nice wood grips and I have the nice pachmayr rubber grips on the gun to tame the recoil !! It has the 8 3/8 in. barrel and it's in near mint condition with only less than 100 rds fired through it !!! I have the test target 50 yard 6 shot grouping from the factory and S&W lays claim to this revolver as being back then one of the most accurate revolvers to have left the Smith & Wesson factory for test target proves that !! I don't know if the test target was done on a bench rest or not but I assume so judging by the grouping looks on the paper target which was done in Nov. of 1990 !!! I do want to get a nice chest rig someday for it if I were to go to Alaska this gun would be my brown bear protection for sure !!! And yes this is all the power factor gun anyone needs for way up north !! The ammo cost is right expensive for me to shoot it on a regular basis and I don't want to reload for it but I do have about 500 rds. stored up just in case I make that trip up north someday !!! And as the man once said in film to the bad guy !!! Do ya feel lucky punk ? Well do ya ? Go ahead make my day !! Afterall I was inspired after watching Dirty Harry Calahan wielding his Smith & Wesson 29-2 model for I already owned the Ruger Redhawk 7 1/2 in. barrel but I just had to go trade it in on the affore mentioned beast 629-3 for I couldn't afford the model 29-2 and I couldn't keep the Ruger and the newly acquired Smith & Wesson for I made the right choice way back then !!!

I do shoot the Buffalo Bore 305 grain Heavy Outdoorsman out of my 5 inch S&W 629 regularly. And Buffalo Bore says on their website that will not damage the gun. They do have an even heavier load, I forget what its called, that can be shot in the Redhawk, but not the S&W. The 305 grains that I shoot are bad ass! There are grizzlies where I live and hunt. I like it over the Redhawk because it is easier to carry . Thanks for a great video!

Nice tutorial on the model 10. I’ve got one purchased in 1927 by my late great uncle. The original 1899 model and those built up until 1905 had a second leaf spring that acted as the trigger return spring instead of the little block with a coil spring inside like all modern revolvers have today. That coil spring trigger return was just about the only major functional change for almost a hundred years.

Basically the BB outdoorsman ammo the .357 180 grain hits like a 44 magnum. And the .38 158 grain hits like a .357. I have both these ammo’s loaded in my S&W model 10 and my Ruger Blackhawk.

I'm 73 and have been reloading for 50+ years. My first press was a Pacific single stage press. Then, I moved up to a Hornady auto-indexing progressive press and later got rid of it. The only times I've ever gotten a squib was on that progressive press. Now, I use a Dillon 550C and 'i have to spin the shell plate by hand. Haven't had a squib since I got the Dillon. I didn't like having to readjust the dies between reloading 38's and 357"s, so I've bought a second set of 38/357 dies. Now, I have 2 sets of 38/357 dies, one dedicated to 38's and the other dedicated to 357. I also use a beam balance to get my charge weight, but i shoot for just under my target weight, then i use a Powder Trickler to come up to exact weight.

Big Ed l have a RCBS carbide 44mag/44 special also.A very good set!l noticed the round steel rings in your die set there on your loading bench.those are there for a reason as you can set your 44 mag dies on your rockchucker( a very good press-- l have 4 of them) and secure the Allen screw on the doe locking ring.those steel rings then allow you to put one of those rings-(-measure for thickness) and that ring placed over the threads of your sizing die and turned into rockchucker will be perfectly set to load 44 special.then you use same spacer on belling die and seater die( both set for 44 mag also)and those dies will be properly spaced to load 44 special.Good Shooting!
